Bemidji Tournament Information & Reminders

  1. Bemidji Youth Hockey will try to provide at least 4 games over the weekend. Teams should plan to play 4-5 games throughout the weekend depending on formatting, but that may be impacted by acts out of our control, such as last minute cancellations, sickness, weather, rink failures, and whatever else you can think of that can upset a hockey tournament.
  2. The number of teams participating and our High School Game Schedule (which isn't out until summer) determines how early we have to start on Friday and how late we need to go into Sunday in order to get in the 4 games. Our tournaments do have priority over pretty much anything else.
  3. We try to accommodate teams that have to travel further, but that may not always be possible.  Teams that are the closest to Bemidji should plan to play the earlier scheduled games on Friday. Please take a look at the teams that are registered, before you register.  Sometimes we cannot avoid that you are playing another team from your district.
  4. Teams are responsible for making their own hotel reservations, Bemidji Youth Hockey does not do this for you.  Hotel blocks should be made immediately upon registration because hotels do fill up.  218 Sports will be helping to orchestrate lodging, please see the tournament page for details on this. 218 Sports is able to get discounted room rates and will have blocks available, but you need to contact them.
  5. Tournament fees are non-refundable. Do Not Register unless you know you will have a team to send. If you have less teams than anticipated, cancel from another tournament but not this one.
  6. Games may start as early as 8:00 AM on Friday.  We strive to keep games later in the day on Friday, but the availability of the rinks may require an earlier time. We recommend making hotel reservations for Friday and Saturday night, unless you want to come a day early.  There is sometimes ice available Friday morning if you would like to rent ice for a practice.
  7. Players, coaches, parents, and spectators are required to follow Bemidji Youth Hockey Code of Conduct.
  8. Be decent with our referees. If you have referees that are traveling with your team, let us know. The officials will do their best, but there will be missed calls and mistakes. If you threatened not to come to Bemidji for tournaments due to officiating, etc., I encourage you to play hockey elsewhere.
  9. Parents and spectators should not be approaching our volunteer tournament staff about seeding, rules, referees, or pretty much anything they would like to complain about.  However, we love to chat about hockey and invite friendly conversations.  Coaches and team managers are welcome to have discussions with tournament staff.
